Zielke Philanthropies is devoted to the global fight against female genital cutting and supports leading international organisations in their work to abolish this practice. This is pursued through sustainable and comprehensive changes in village communities and influencing relevant institutions and political leaders specifically. Zielke Philanthropies supports both Tostan, the charity founded by Molly Melching with a focus on pragmatic local action to democratise communities and empower women in their societies, and Orchid Project with its focus on outreach and on creating awareness and collective willingness to act. Since 2020 both organisations have not only received financial resources, but also practical support, such as in setting up German subsidiary organisations and local support networks.
